Surface Pro 3 Wavy diagonal lines when inking

I've noticed a problem with my surface pro 3 that I have not been able to work around.  When I draw a slow diagonal line, it comes out very wavy and jagged.  If I quickly draw a diagonal, it seems ok.  Has anyone else seen this, is there a fix for it?  seems to happen in every application, so it strikes me as potential hardware.

    please help me to understand the following:

    wavy lines appear when we are drawing straight lines slowly (a lot of datapoints)

    when you draw the same straight line quicker (fewer datapoints, given a constant samplerate), you get straight lines also on the drawingboard...

    why not just fix this with an adjustment on the software side?

    I think that that's something done at the level of the application that you are using. That's what I remember from my little experience developing using the Microsoft.ink.dll

    I am however quite sure that this is not application specific, I notice the same behavior on one note, paint, pdf reader (both win and adobe) basically anywhere, this tells me that it could be solved on firmware or OS level.

    do you agree on that?

    I've just bought a Surface Pro 3 less than 10 days ago and just realized this issue when playing around with OneNote. When drawing diagonal lines, the lines suddenly becomes a vertical line for about 1/2 inch then joins back to the tip of the pen. This happens about 2 inches from the bottom of the screen. It's apparent even at fast strokes but very severe at slow strokes.

    I've tried recalibrating but still the same. I haven't tried with another pen or using the pen on another screen, but this looks like a hardware problem.

    Below is a fullscreen screenshot. 

    I'm thinking I should return this.
