Surface Pro 3 Wavy diagonal lines when inking

Has anyone tried using Lazy Nezumi when drawing? http://lazynezumi.com

Does this fix the wobbly diagonal/slow line issue enough to make the Surface 3 (Pro and otherwise) a viable (indeed, robust) art tool?

I was wondering when Microsoft is going to fix this. I also test the new surface 3 not the pro model and seems that they fix the issue. At least the lines looked better. Cant still believe that the camera of the surface 3 performs better than the sp3.

I believe that microsoft is never going to fix the wavy line issue. If its "adjusting some voltage" I don't believe that can be solved with a firmware, its a hardware issue in the circuitry unless they revise the pen to a new hardware version or something.

Thank you, Scott. I had the same experience with my SP3: hovering my palm over the screen prevents the problem from appearing. When you did this test, did you have your surface plugged in or on battery? I suspect that touching the case brought your body's voltage to the same level as the surface, so that's likely part of the issue.

Back in 2009, I had a Wacom Bamboo USB tablet that experienced very similar problems depending where I was. When I was at college, it was fine, but back home 200 miles away (and 2 miles from strong AM radio towers) I was experiencing severe noise in my handwriting. Touching my computer case or any other piece of grounded metal made the problem disappear entirely. Wacom support wasn't able to resolve my problem.

I ended up selling my SP3 last week. I got to try out a Surface 3 (the new, non-pro model) at the Microsoft store over the weekend. I compared the handwriting on a S3 to a SP3 in the same store. Compared to my own SP3, the S3 there was much less noisy. I was deliberately drawing slow diagonal lines, small letters, and small circles, and it kept up well. If my SP3 had performed as this device I tested did, I probably wouldn't have ever noticed a problem in the first place. My hope is that MS has incorporated the pen voltage modification in these devices (the one alluded to in the Reddit AMA).

I'm hopeful that the Surface 3 does actually resolve the pen issue and they incorporate the fix into the SP3.

Ya, touching the back of my surface pro 3 while I'm inking does seem to diminish the jagged lines. I have no idea why in the heck this would be the case though. Could it be the heat from my hand, or because it is conductive? Or, maybe it's just in my head.

This. We've gone over this point over at the reddit /Surface forums about a month back and our thoughts and experiences echo  this post right on. This is the first I've heard about touching the back but writing with a cloth on the screen (to prevent contacting the screen with your palm) was the best answer we came up with. It doesn't work for my train ride but from home it's doable and means I can take notes again. 

I've had my Surface Pro 3 since this christmas, and also have been experiencing these wavy/jagged lines. 

One thing I wanted to report on that I haven't really seen mentioned in this forum often is that I have found the issue seems to be closely tied with palm rejection. I can't say if this is the same for everyones device, but on my own Surface Pro 3, keeping my palm off the screen makes diagonal lines nearly smooth, as if there is no problem at all.

Furthermore, on my own device, something I found that's even weirder. If I hold the backside of my device while I'm inking with my palm still on the screen, the problem also is also heavily reduced.

I went to the Microsoft store a couple of weeks ago to see if the SP3's there had the same problem, and of the devices that I tried they all seemed to have the issue. 

Is there anyone else on this thread who can confirm that this problem does/does not affect their device in this way? I find it very strange that putting my hand on the back of my surface would help the inking to the degree that it has
