Surface Laptop 3 (Intel) issue with DP1.2 monitor after installing January 2020 updates

Just a heads up and if someone from Microsoft sees this maybe talk to the Surface team:

After installing the January 2020 driver and firmware updates for Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 (Intel), my machine detected my external monitor (Dell U2715H) as 640x480.

The connection is made from SL3 -> Lenovo USB-C Dock Gen 2 -> Displayport to Mini Displayport on the Dell U2715h.

The problem went away after I disabled DP1.2 on the Dell Monitor and the screen was detected with its native resolution of 2560x1440 again.

    Not that this helps, but I thought I'd update. Called Microsoft on this issue at least 5 times, spending over 7 hours on the phone with them over the past week 1/2.

    Every tech tries to troubleshoot and seems to have no idea what's going on. (Uninstall display drivers, re-install through MSI package. Restart, Clear display cache, etc. Sometimes it works for a few minutes, sometimes all day, but 80% it never works, and 100% of the time if fails at some point after initially working. 

    The sad part is there is clearly an update for the latest intel display drivers from Intel directly, but Microsoft hasn't released it in Windows update. No idea if this fixes our issue, but praying to God it does.

    The external display port output would flicker and go out after a minute or two of start up. Every morning I've been rebooting, un-docking and re-docking until the display works. I down graded Intel Iris drivers to 25.20.100.7101 (8/5/2019). After a power cycle all screens are black, including the laptop display even after I undock. I have used a USB 2.0 video adapter to get to a login screen. After login it seems to not have any issues. Its a lot of work to just boot up a new laptop every morning.

    I tried another dock from one of my other offices and it worked fine. Maybe it just went bad? I have no idea. Trying to replace it and they're back-ordered. Maybe just a brush of bad luck, who knows, but it's still strange that other ports work except the display ports (usbs and it charges my SL3) and the display ports literally STOPPED working from one day to the next. Extremely frustrating and expensive. Glad I'm not alone!

    Same/Similar problem for SP7, probably a problem for all Ice Lake-based Surface platforms.

    I have same issues on a SL3. Just tried a new dock but it provided no resolution.

    Have you tested with a different dock?
