Please fix this issue! I loved my Surface Pro lineup, but now after having the Surface Laptop 3 (and loving it), this issue is strongly making me consider switching to Mac.
Surface Laptop 3 (Intel) issue with DP1.2 monitor after installing January 2020 updates
Just a heads up and if someone from Microsoft sees this maybe talk to the Surface team:
After installing the January 2020 driver and firmware updates for Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 (Intel), my machine detected my external monitor (Dell U2715H) as 640x480.
The connection is made from SL3 -> Lenovo USB-C Dock Gen 2 -> Displayport to Mini Displayport on the Dell U2715h.
The problem went away after I disabled DP1.2 on the Dell Monitor and the screen was detected with its native resolution of 2560x1440 again.
I think this should be added to the known issues on this article if possible: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4526150/surface-laptop-3-update-history

2020-04-12T23:21:03+00:00 I stumbled on this thread after finding no solutions to this issue decided to add my own reply.
Since last week, my external monitor has not worked (connected through a Surface dock; [mini-display to HDMI also a Microsoft product] to my SL3). It been working with the same set up at both of my offices since October witout any issues and no hardware changes changes have been made. It makes all the right sounds as if connected and my displays are recognized 1 & 2, but the external monitor says "No HDMI signal from your device" (I used a Dell as well as a Lenovo brand new monitors). I've scoured all the blogs and forums I can and tried all the updates for my laptop, the dock, drivers, and even bought a new monitor and new cables all to no avail. I wonder if a simple glitch has happened with updates or is there some wake up setting that isn't coming through the dock to the external monitor anymore? I have one other dongle for a wireless mouse and a charger for my phone plugged in, both function normally.
I hope Microsoft can get a solution going for this because it's EXTREMELY frustrating and I've potentially have hundreds of dollars in useless Microsoft and other computer equipment. I have another dock at my office which I will visit tomorrow (it's been over a week with current quarantine) and if it's doing the same thing, I'm going to bombard Microsoft with reporting issues on this because there is definitely something wrong and it needs to be addressed asap.

2020-03-27T16:35:14+00:00 Hi Greg,
Thanks for acknowledging this - it is a step in the right direction.
Just pass on the urgency of this as this has been 2 MONTHS that thousands of dollars of equipment has been essentially unusable. Being quiet on this matter has been tough as is.

2020-03-22T16:10:53+00:00 I have a similar issue. Since the latest graphic update on my surface laptop 3, my extended screen works but one of them randomly get kind of blurry... Disconnecting the dock and connecting it back fixed it... And yeah i tried reinstalling the drivers, clearing the cache and updating the surface dock... Same issue.
It is not a monitor, wires ou dock issue as i have the exact same problem at home and the office.
