Surface Duo fingerprint security option now missing

The fingerprint reader of my Duo suddenly stopped working. I noticed that the fingerprint option in settings\security is not showing up anymore.

Phone has the latest update.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Not willing to try to reset to factory settings given how much time it takes to reconfigure the phone.

    I am now thoroughly confused...

    After several months with the fingerprint sensor not working, it is now working again! 8-O

    I just returned from a trip to Seattle where I tried to speak to someone at the Microsoft Store (Supposed to be open to the public, but with the visitor's center being closed due to Covid; not open to the public). Get back home and find the sensor is working again. I had to scan my fingerprints. Now we are back to working as expected. Mind you, it was not immediate, but took 6 days after my visit for the magic to kick in.

    So, if you want this fixed and cannot do without the phone, fly to Seattle. Go to the closed Microsoft Store / Visitor's Center on the campus of Microsoft in Redmond, WA. Return home and in a few days the fingerprint scanner will start working again. [Sarcasm]
