Simple questions deserve simple answers. How do I access files that are blocked by cloud?
Hello there,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. I see that you’re unable to access your files in OneDrive.
Here are some steps to help you retrieve them:
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
1. Check Which Account You're Signed Into
Make sure you're signed in with the correct Microsoft account (your personal one, not your old school account).
If you’re unsure, try signing out and back in using your personal email.
2. Check the OneDrive Folder on Your Computer
Open File Explorer and go to the OneDrive folder (usually under C:\Users[YourName]\OneDrive).
See if your files are listed there. If they are, they may not have synced to the cloud yet.
3. Check the OneDrive Sync Status
Click the OneDrive cloud icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner).
Look for any error messages or warnings.
If syncing is paused or there's an error, click Resume syncing or follow the prompts to fix it.
4. Search for Files
Use the search bar in OneDrive online to look for specific file names.
If search isn’t working (as you mentioned earlier), try browsing folders manually.
5. Check the Recycle Bin
In OneDrive online, go to the Recycle Bin (left sidebar).
If files were accidentally deleted, you can restore them from here.
6. Check Shared Files
Go to the Shared tab in OneDrive online to see if any files were shared with your personal account from your school account.
If You Moved Files Locally
If you moved files from your school account to your computer but didn’t upload them to your personal OneDrive yet:
Open your local folder where you saved them.
Drag and drop them into your personal OneDrive folder to start syncing.
I hope this helps you. If you need more assistance, please feel free to reply to this thread.
Cheers!
