Windows 24H2 issues with Scanning

Dear Microsoft,

Please before you push out a cumulative update do your due diligence and make sure it will not ruin critical functions. Many scanner products will not scan anymore and pop up with a WIA no friendly name error. Currently my company is having problems with Fujitsu scanners. We need this resolved quickly to avoid service disruption; what is your eta on a permanent fix for this that ISN'T rolling back the OS to the previous version. Due to vulnerabilities our security (rightly so) will not allow us to revert.

We do have a company that seems to be working (Epson) this may be a good place to start your troubleshooting as to why this isn't working with other companies (brother, ricoh to name a few). I am under the gun here from my CIO and this needs to be resolved or at least a workaround found asap.

Hi Jacen

Any update on a release of Microsoft patch for this? OUr nurses can scan patient charts due to ths issue? New devices are coming in with 4H2 preloaded

There is a standalone scanning program with numerous settings (including OCR) that works perfectly under any operating system (vuescan by www.hamrick.com). I have been using it for decades.

Hey there,

Having the same issues with the Ricoh 8170s that our company installs. I found a workaround until MS gets their act together. There's an app in the Microsoft store called MS Scan. That is the ONLY thing that I've found that will allow our 8170s to scan.

Hope this will help you, and hope MS gets this fixed ASAP!

Es gibt eine APP von Simon Knuth, das auch im Microsoft-Store verfügbar ist.

Damit kann man mit rudimentären Funktionen die Multifunktionsgeräte
wieder ansprechen. Meine Geräte sind nicht über
USB verbunden sondern im Netzwerk (LAN und WIFI)

Fujitsu scanners will stop connecting to scanning programs such as Paperstream or Kofax. This can affect both ISIS and TWAIN drivers. Only WIA scanning to Windows Fax & Scan will be available. The scanner will be listed in Device Manager correctly.In order to restore function for TWAIN scanning, follow these steps:1. Uninstall the scanner via Device Manager with the “Remove driver” option selected1. Fully uninstall existing drivers via Programs and Features.1. Disconnect the scanner1. Reboot PC1. Reinstall driver package from Ricoh website1. Connect the scanner1. Using Device Manager, reload the driver again1. Select the fi scanner under Imaging section1. Right click and select properties1. Go to driver tab, select update driver 2. Browse my computer for driver software1. If two identical drivers for the model are listed, select the 2nd one

Ricoh 7160 on 24H2 10.0.26100 with KB5048667 installed.

I needed the Paperstream software to be working for the Citrix passthrough scanning to function and this resolved it! Hopefully Microsoft has a permanent fix in the future. Until then we are blocking this update.
