Dear Microsoft,
Please before you push out a cumulative update do your due diligence and make sure it will not ruin critical functions. Many scanner products will not scan anymore and pop up with a WIA no friendly name error. Currently my company is having problems with Fujitsu scanners. We need this resolved quickly to avoid service disruption; what is your eta on a permanent fix for this that ISN'T rolling back the OS to the previous version. Due to vulnerabilities our security (rightly so) will not allow us to revert.
We do have a company that seems to be working (Epson) this may be a good place to start your troubleshooting as to why this isn't working with other companies (brother, ricoh to name a few). I am under the gun here from my CIO and this needs to be resolved or at least a workaround found asap.

I do not have much trust in Microsoft any longer and not sure when this will get corrected.
As usual, I found a workaround. Luckily the majority of the workarounds I find are open-source solutions.
For scanning, use NAPS2 - Not Another PDF Scanner program that should allow you to scan.
I have same issue with my Brother printer, it works but will not show the PDF scan results. How do we fix????
I wasted 2 hours of extreme frustration battling this 24H2 issue with my Brother MFC-J985DW multifunction printers. Both are connected via ethernet. I tried the Brother image update provided by MS to no avail. MS should not push the 24H2 without any warning. This must be fixed soon as I do not have the capability to go back to 23H2 on 2 of my PCs.
I think Microsoft needs to release a downgrade to 23H2 that will bring everyone back and dump 24H2 until it is fully tested and working. They sure put the cart before the horse on this one. This is about as big of SNAFU as I have ever seen from Microsoft with the exception of Windows ME. This sure gives Microsoft a black eye.
Furthermore, when Microsoft and other vendors support people try to make you feel you have the problem on your side, I tell them that printing and scanning works great on macOS and Linux, which natively support eSCL via CUPS. Its definitely not a hardware issue or an end-user configuration issue. I hate that some support vendors make you feel like you screwed up something, then come to find out it is Microsoft.
I have rolled some people back to Windows 11 23H2 from 24H2 and everything works great. Unfortunately Microsoft keeps forcing in 24H2.
We are still troubleshooting as it seems nothing still works after the December 10th Windows Update.
As for NAPS2, it works but it's not something we can utilize for a large number of staff throughout the state.
This has been quite troublesome and HP Level 3 still just says they are working with Microsoft.
I have many clients sitting on Windows 11 24H2 that cannot scan and this is greatly impacting their business. Other scanners at this time are being used, temporarily, and all other copier/scanners/etc. that stopped working on 24H2, this has a great financial impact on various businesses.
