How to create/alter a custom email notification for end users?

Hey there,

I recently ran into an issue with an old administrative account delivering messages such as, "You shared content that contains 1 or more credit card numbers with people outside your organization." And, "Consider removing the numbers or make sure it's OK that everyone you're sharing with can view them."

I am looking to change the address in which this notification is received from, although I am lost as to where this may have been initially setup and where I might change the properties of this notification in the Admin Center. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this notification sent by a specific user account or by another platform or service?

I am using Azure Email Communication Services to send emails.

For one of the emails that was sent, I received an automated notification from postmaster (at) azurecomm.net with the following message:

"You shared content that contains 1 or more credit card numbers with people outside your organization. Consider removing the numbers or make sure it's OK that everyone you're sharing with can view them."

The email contained Excel file attachments. One of the columns in those files includes 12-digit numeric values. These values are not credit card numbers, although I understand they may be detected as such by automated security or DLP mechanisms.

To clarify the environment:

❌ I am not using Exchange Online

❌ I am not using Microsoft 365

❌ I am not using Microsoft Purview

✅ I am using only Azure Email Communication Services

As far as I can tell, Azure Email Communication Services does not provide configurable rules or policies to allow exceptions or mark these emails as legitimate in the case of false positives.

Questions

If these types of notifications continue to occur:

Is there a risk that the account, the service, or future emails could be blocked or suspended automatically?

Is there any recommended way to mitigate or avoid these false positives given the current limitations of the service?

Any clarification or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.
