I got a new number and i can no longer access my old number so my account is asking for a code to my old number or thur the authenticator app and i cant access neither of them cause i dont have access to my old number

The security and privacy function requires a code it sending to the old bad number so i cant update info without the code that I cant get!!!!

I am also stuck in the same loop. It's my personal account, I can't sign up for Authenticator because my Microsoft account has old cell number that I can't access. I tried to answer a bunch of security questions in order to change my phone number, it seemed to have worked. Microsoft said it would respond within 24 hours, but it's 3 days with no response.

I tried to find a phone number, but all numbers never allow you to talk to a human and the situation is too complex for the automated system.

I submitted a question that I was supposed to get a email response. again, said respond within 24 hours, but it's been 2 days and no response.

IDK what to do. I'm stuck in the loop now...... please help.

we have issues with signing in using 2mfa and idiot answers with link requiring 2mfa to log in to view..... GEES.....

Microsoft requires a code sent to the old phone number before you can get to this page!!!!!!! We all know where to go and that's where we are blocked. You can't get through this without a code to the old phone number.

Assuming a work / school account.

https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info

Go to Security & Privacy page > choose Additional security verification > Update my phone numbers used for account security.
After that it will open a new window. You will see your Phone is listed and you can choose Delete.
Choose Set up Authenticator app and it will open a pop-up box with QR code so that you can configure the app on your new device.

This suggestion / advice does not work because when you follow your path, it always asks for me to authenticate via the Microsoft Authenticator on my old phone number which I do not have access to.

Please read the original question:

Is not helpful, because we can't get access to the Security & Privacy page

Then your response with the link https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info sends you to the exact same prompt, saying it will send a code to the phone number we no longer have access to....... So again, its not helpful.

I don't need to reset my password as I can remember it, what I want to do is update my phone number in the Security & Privacy section.

I am also the Administrator of the account so can't reset myself.

Any suggestions out there?

Microsoft wont let you change phone numbers unless you have a code sent to number you are trying to change! worthless advice.

This does not work because when you try to access that area it wants to do the same thing and for you to access the Microsoft Authenticator app to enter the code. But the it is sent to the old phone number which cannot be accessed. Also, the only other option is to send to the Outlook Mobile app which does not work for the same reason. It does not send to my Outlook app on my laptop
