Introduction

Microsoft Copilot isn't a single feature enabled with one setting. In education tenants, Copilot exists as a set of AI experiences that range from free, secure AI chat to fully licensed copilots embedded across Microsoft 365 applications. Copilot Chat is a secure, web-grounded AI chat experience accessed through the Microsoft 365 Copilot app and protected by Enterprise Data Protection (EDP) for education tenants.

As a systems integrator, your role is to help the institution understand these options, prepare the tenant so AI operates safely, and enable Copilot in a way that aligns with institutional policy, student age requirements, and data‑protection expectations.
