Outlook shared mailboxes not automapping in new outlook

Hi Team,
I am having issue with automapping shared mailbox on new outlook. It works when done manually from Shared with me but doesn't work automatically.

Troubleshooting done:

Works on classic outlook but not on new outlook
Worked when added manually from Settings>accounts>Shared with me
Removed permissions and added again - same issue
Uninstalled outlook from "Installed Apps" , opened classic outlook and switched to new - same issue again
Intune sync - successful
Rebooted machine - no luck
Completed all updates and rebooted machine - same issue

Dear Rajesh Bhandari,

Based on the behavior described, this is by design in New Outlook rather than an issue with your Outlook installation. Unlike the experience you may be familiar with in Classic Outlook, you can add the shared mailbox directly to the folder pane in New Outlook.

To do this, open New Outlook, then right-select your account name in the left-hand folder pane and select Add shared folder or mailbox. Enter the name or email address of the shared mailbox and add it. The shared mailbox will then appear in the folder pane, where you can expand it and access its folders.

Thank you for your reply.

I know we can do it from this section but I want this to be automapped when we open the outlook. As per my understanding, any shared mailbox with permission assigned should automatically pop up under the primary user section.

And there are alot of mailboxes so its not possible to map it manually.

In new Outlook for Windows, shared mailboxes that are added by automapping do not automatically synchronize incoming email in the Inbox. Manual sync is expected by selecting Sync on the View ribbon or by selecting the folder.

Since the shared mailbox works when added manually from Settings > Accounts > Shared with me, the practical fix in new Outlook is to add the shared mailbox as an account instead of relying on automapping.

Steps:

In new Outlook, go to File > Account info or Settings > Accounts > Shared with me.
If the mailbox appears there as auto-mapped, select it to expand it.
Select Convert to add it as an account.
If it is not already listed there, select + Add on the Shared with me page and follow the prompts.
Confirm it appears under Your accounts.

Important details:

Adding the shared mailbox as an account enables automatic sync and notifications in new Outlook.
Managing settings such as Categories, Notifications, Rules, and Automatic Replies for the shared mailbox also requires adding it as an account.
Full Access permission is required for the mailbox to be added as an account.
If Full Access was assigned through a security group, automapping will not work correctly because Autodiscover does not expand the security group membership for automapping. In that case, Full Access must be assigned explicitly to each user.
Avoid having the same mailbox both manually added as an account and also auto-mapped in the same profile, because that can cause unexpected behavior.

Based on the symptoms provided, this is consistent with new Outlook behavior rather than a client reinstall or update issue.
