If the message showed a strike and ended up in Deleted Items, that does not confirm it was successfully sent.

    What can be checked:

    1. Open Sent Items and look for the reply there. Outlook stores sent messages in Sent Items.
    2. Check Outbox. If the message did not send successfully, it can remain there, especially if there was a connection or sign-in problem.
    3. Check Deleted Items. A message can be moved there and still be recoverable.
    4. In Outlook.com, if the message is not in Deleted Items, use Recover items deleted from this folder to see whether it can be restored.
    5. If the message is in Sent Items but the recipient says nothing arrived, ask the recipient to check whether it was filtered, moved, or deleted on their side.

Important: moving the conversation from Deleted Items to Sent Items after the fact does not prove the message was sent. It only changes where the conversation is stored now.

A sent message can still fail delivery. If a message is undeliverable, Outlook.com can return a delivery failed notice. If no failure notice was received and the message is in Sent Items, the next check is usually on the recipient side.

    Hi Nermeen Sheikh

If the message is now in Sent Items, that is usually a good sign, but moving the conversation from Deleted Items to Sent Items afterward does not by itself prove the email was successfully sent. Outlook normally places sent messages in Sent Items, while unsent messages may remain in the Outbox.

    To check:

    1. Look in Outbox for a copy of the message. If it's there, it likely has not been sent yet.
    2. Check whether you received a delivery failure (NDR) message. If not, the message may have been delivered successfully.
    3. If possible, ask the recipient whether they received the email (and to check Junk/Spam if necessary).

Also, if messages in that conversation are being moved to Deleted Items, check whether the conversation was accidentally set to Ignore, as Outlook can automatically move messages from ignored conversations to Deleted Items.
