Try these Windows 10 steps in order:
- Close the app completely and open it again.
- Select the X in the upper-right corner, then reopen WhatsApp or the other app.
- Check for Windows updates.
- Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
- Install any available updates, then restart the PC.
- Update Microsoft Store.
- Open Microsoft Store.
- Select See more > Downloads and updates > Get updates.
- Let Store updates finish.
- Repair or reset the app.
- Go to Start > Settings > Apps & features.
- Find WhatsApp or the affected app.
- Select More > Advanced options.
- First try Terminate, then open the app again.
- If needed, use Repair or Reset.
- Reinstall the app from Microsoft Store.
- In Microsoft Store, select See more > My Library.
- Select the app and choose Install.
- If apps appear installed but do not open, check Windows security settings.
- Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Windows Security.
- Open App & browser control > Exploit protection settings.
- Under System settings, make sure Control flow guard (CFG) is set to Use default (On).
- If the app keeps crashing, force it to close.
- Go to Start > Settings > Apps & features.
- Find the app.
- Select More > Advanced options > Terminate.
- Then try opening it again.
- If the problem is with mobile apps on Windows, check the app settings.
- Go to Start, search for Apps & features.
- Find the app and select More > Advanced options.
- Review notifications, permissions, and storage.
