IOS Outlook app keeps crashing when I open it

Issue just started this evening. When I open the IOS Outlook app, it will crash and close after a few seconds.

@Jade Ng how are we supposed to report the issue through the Outlook for iOS if the app crashes immediately upon opening and we cannot access support?

I am running iOS27 on an Apple 16 Pro Max and Outlook app version 5.2637.0 and the app crashes immediately unless opened in Airplane mode. All iOS and app versions are latest revision. App continues to crash after multiple device reboots.

App continues to crash after multiple device reboots. Even setup user on a new phone and Outlook continues to crash for the user. Seems to be an issue with 5.2637.0. My personal phone has outlook app version 5.26.35.1 and its running fine with no issues.

Also getting the message: Your admin has enabled contact save in Outlook's settings. Please grant permissions so that Outlook can export contacts from your email account to the Contacts app.

@Jade Ng this is still unresolved. Please provide an expeditious update. I am using enterprise apps and rely on Exchange for business-critical applications and Outlook for iOS continues to crash.

Both iOS and the app have been updated to the latest versions.

I can provide iPhone crash logs if needed.

My IT department is clueless on how to help me fix this issue. I cannot do anything with my phone for work. I have a. iPhone 15 running 26.7 and Outlook version 5.2637

For the time being, please use Outlook on the web as a temporary workaround to access your email and calendar where possible.

Just FYI - I'm seeing a report on Reddit that this was fixed with version 5.2637.1 from the App store. I can't confirm.

u/pegboy4691 - a new version of the Outlook app for iOS is now avaiable in the app store. 5.2637.1. We just tested with 3 users and all 3 users are no longer crashing

Latest version installed, still does it. Weirdly it only one 365 account causing it, if I don't add that account its fine.

You obviously are not seeing the same problem as most others. You need to start a new thread using the "Ask a question" button at the top of this page to create a new Question and include the details for your specific problem.

Dear Oeftering, Matthew P,

Based on the symptoms you described, this may be related to a currently known issue affecting Outlook for iOS version 5.2635.1 on older versions of iOS. Microsoft Engineering is currently investigating this behavior, where Outlook may become unresponsive during startup or crash when launched.

For reference, please see: Outlook for iOS may become unresponsive or crash on launch

While the issue is being investigated, Microsoft recommends the following workaround:

Check whether an iOS update is available for your device.
Update your device to the latest available version of iOS.
After the update is complete, launch Outlook again and check whether the issue persists.

Since the issue persists even after updating iOS, please try the following steps:

Restart your iPhone/iPad completely, then open Outlook again and check whether the issue persists.

If Outlook continues to crash, uninstall Outlook app and reinstall it from the App Store.

After reinstalling, sign back in and check whether Outlook remains open normally.

If the issue still occurs after these steps, it may be related to the Outlook for iOS issue that Microsoft is currently investigating. In that case, please continue using an alternative method to access your mailbox where possible (e.g. Outlook web) while Microsoft works on the issue.

I would also recommend reporting the issue through Outlook for iOS so that the Outlook team can receive additional diagnostic information from affected users.

Still unresolved. 5.2637.0 and iOS27

I travel for work. This is becoming unacceptable that I can’t access Outlook to manage emails and my calendar without painful workarounds.
