Sadly the free upgrade time period to go from Windows 7 to Windows 10 ended in 2016, however after that for many years, it was still possible to upgrade for free, but in September 2023, Microsoft finally closed that loophole that allowed people to upgrade for free, and they did that, it is no longer possible, the only way to activate Windows 10 now is to purchase a new Windows licence.
