Since the PC was already reset and the games are still crashing, work through these Windows and Microsoft Store checks in order:
- Restart the PC once more if Windows updates were installed after the reset. Microsoft Store apps can fail to install or run correctly until the PC is restarted.
- Check Windows Update:
- On Windows 11: Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates
- On Windows 10: Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates
- Install any available updates.
- Update Microsoft Store:
- Open Microsoft Store
- On Windows 11: select Library > Get updates
- On Windows 10: select See more > Downloads and updates > Get updates
- Reset the Microsoft Store app:
- Press Windows key + R
- Type wsreset.exe and select OK
- A blank Command Prompt window may appear for about 10 seconds, then Microsoft Store should open automatically.
- Reinstall the affected games/apps from Microsoft Store:
- Open Microsoft Store
- Go to Library or My Library
- Find the game and select Install
- Repair or reset the game app if available:
- Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps
- Select the game
- Select Advanced options
- Choose Repair first
- If it still crashes, choose Reset
- Note: not all apps support Repair or Reset.
- If the crashes started after the reset and happen mainly while gaming, try a clean boot to check for background software conflicts.
If Windows itself is still freezing or behaving unexpectedly after the reset, use the Windows recovery guidance and back up important files before trying any further recovery option, because some recovery actions can cause data loss.
