My iPad crashed and half my work is gone. I had autosve on and it didn’t save my last hour of work. I tried file recovery and the last hour isn’t there.

    Hi @Gieger, Kara

Before assuming that Microsoft 365 failed to save the changes, I would first determine where the file was stored when the iPad crashed.

    That makes a big difference.

If the file was stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, AutoSave should normally save changes automatically while you work. In that case, please check the file from the OneDrive website and look at:

    File → Version History

See whether there is a newer version than the one currently opening on the iPad.

If the file was stored locally on the iPad or in another storage location, then OneDrive AutoSave/Version History would not necessarily contain the missing edits.

Since you already checked File Recovery and the missing hour is not there, I would verify the following before doing anything else:

Was the file stored in OneDrive, SharePoint, iCloud, or locally on the iPad?

Which app were you using: Word, Excel, or PowerPoint?

Was the AutoSave indicator definitely showing On before the crash?

Can you see the file and its Version History from the OneDrive website?

Did the iPad crash completely, or did only the Microsoft 365 app close unexpectedly?

If the file was in OneDrive and Version History also does not contain the missing hour, that would suggest the changes were never successfully committed to the cloud before the crash.

If the file was local to the iPad, then the issue is more likely related to the app/device recovery state rather than OneDrive itself.

For now, I would avoid overwriting the current file or making additional edits until you check Version History, because an older recoverable version may still be available.
