A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data
Good day @Drew Daniell,
Just to gently clarify before going any further, this forum is separate from Microsoft Support. Forum members, including myself, are fellow users and do not have access to Microsoft's internal systems, diagnostic tools, or the permissions required to directly investigate or resolve issues like this.
That said, I'd like to better understand the situation and hopefully help narrow down the scope of the problem.
- Does Excel version 2.113.5 also fail when saving a newly created blank .xlsx workbook, or does the issue only occur with this existing .xlsm workbook?
- Do you have any other iPads running Excel 2.113.5, and if so, do they experience the same saving, sharing, and SharePoint upload issues?
- If you sign in with the same account on another device running 2.113.5, does the behavior follow the account or appear to be specific to certain devices?
As a quick troubleshooting step, you may want to restart one affected iPad and then uninstall and reinstall Excel before signing back in. Please ensure that any important locally stored files are backed up first, as reinstalling the app may remove locally cached data.
In the meantime, I would strongly recommend avoiding further edits to critical business files on affected devices. Based on your description, the creation of 0 KB files could potentially result in valid copies being replaced or overwritten.
Since the issue appears to affect multiple functions at once, and to potentially reach a resolution more efficiently while minimizing further disruption to your business operations, you may also wish to contact your Microsoft 365 administrator and ask them to open a support request through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center > Help & Support.
A Microsoft support engineer, with access to diagnostic tools and permissions not available to forum members, may be able to investigate the issue in greater depth and determine whether it is related to a known issue, a service-side problem, or a recent change affecting Excel version 2.113.5.
Thank you for taking the time to read through my suggestions. If you have any updates, please feel free to leave a comment and keep me informed.
Best of luck, and I hope you're able to get this resolved soon.
