hello

the custom sort function on excel only gives the option of sorting in ascending or descending on the chrome book but on windows it give the option of sorting by newest to oldest and vice versa.

this is using excel through a browser. I'm sure there shouldn't be any difference using it online but there is what else is there a limit with?

i do have a 365 subscription

Regards

Vinny

    On a Chromebook, you are using Excel for the web, even with a Microsoft 365 subscription. The web version is not completely feature-identical to the Windows desktop version. Microsoft does acknowledge that there would be different features. See here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/excel/differences-between-using-a-workbook-in-the-browser-and-in-excel

    Also, for the specific sorting behavior you noticed, that seems to be different wording, but same feature.

    Ascending = oldest to newest

    Descending = newest to oldest

    Microsoft doesn't make a version of Microsoft 365 for Chromebooks. You are actually using the online version of Microsoft 365, and since you have a paid subscription, you can access more Microsoft 365 features than someone who uses the free version of Microsoft 365 online. To be sure you are getting access to all the features you paid for, sign in to Microsoft 365 by opening any app, then going to File > Account > User Information and entering the username and password of the Microsoft account that purchased the subscription.

    Even with a subscription, the online version of Microsoft 365 doesn't have all the features of the downloaded apps, but hopefully it's got what you're looking for.
