my HP laptop does not power on when I open the lid. I have the settings for power on and off in that lid function. Is there any mean to pass that setting and force power on so that I could remove that setting because it is not working OS is windows 11 S version

Hello,

This feature is available only on specific HP models and can be controlled only through BIOS/UEFI settings. This feature cannot be enabled through Windows Power Options.

If your laptop has this feature, you can enable it in the BIOS.

When you see your PC Manufacturer's logo or the Windows logo, press F2 or F10 or F12, or Esc to boot your PC into the BIOS utility screen. You can refer to the document to learn about the BIOS menu keys.
From there, look for power options.
Look for any setting related to 'Lid Switch'.
Ensure the 'Power ON Lid Open' Option is enabled.

This setting allows the system to power up from the off state whenever the lid is opened. (Works for both when plugged into an AC adapter and on battery.)

but problem is no power so any button is not working the screen is totally black no logo or anything

Then this appears to be a separate hardware issue rather than a problem with the "Power on Lid Open" setting you mentioned before.

Do you see any LED light turning on when you press the power button?

Have you tried using a different AC adapter to see whether the device powers on? Sometimes, the battery may be completely drained, and a faulty AC adapter could prevent the device from turning on.

If there are no LED indicators or other signs of power, you may need to contact the PC manufacturer and send the device in for repair.

Before contacting the manufacturer, try performing a power drain reset to see whether the device turns on:

Disconnect all external devices from the laptop, including the AC adapter, USB drives, keyboard, mouse, and the battery if it is removable.

Press and hold the laptop's power button for at least 30 seconds, and then release it.

Wait a few minutes, reconnect the battery and AC adapter, and then try turning on the computer.

Check whether the laptop now turns on.

Also test with another AC adapter and see if it works.

Windows lid settings control sleep/display behavior, not powering on from a full shutdown.

For many laptops, power on when the lid opens is controlled by the BIOS/UEFI or the manufacturer utility, not by Windows. That is why changing the Windows lid setting may not make the laptop start when the lid is opened.

What is supported in Windows 11:

Open Control Panel.
Go to System and Security > Power Options.
Select Choose what closing the lid does.
Set the lid action you want for On battery and Plugged in.
Select Save changes.

If the goal is to keep the laptop running with the lid closed, set When I close the lid to Do nothing for Plugged in. If preferred, leave On battery as Sleep to avoid battery drain and heat when the laptop is closed and not connected to power.

If the goal is specifically turn on the laptop by opening the lid, Windows does not provide a supported way in the provided material to force that behavior. That feature is commonly firmware/vendor-controlled on HP systems.
