A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
By default, Excel copies all data in the row, including formulas, values, formatting, comments, and hidden cells.
To copy the top row onto the rows below:
- Select the top row to copy.
- On the Home tab, select Copy or press Ctrl+C.
- Select the destination row or rows below.
- Right-click the row below or to the right of where the copied row should go, then select Insert Copied Cells.
If the goal is to paste only part of the row:
- Values only: Home > Paste > Paste Values
- Formatting only: Home > Paste > Paste Formatting
- Formulas only: Home > Paste > Paste Formulas
If some rows or columns are hidden or filtered, use visible cells only:
- Select the row or column.
- Home > Find & Select > Go To Special.
- Select Visible cells only > OK.
- Copy with Ctrl+C, then paste with Ctrl+V.
If copied blank cells are replacing existing data, use Paste Special and select Skip blanks.
If Excel shows the moving dashed border around the copied row, that means the copy is active. Press Esc to cancel it.
