How to uninstall Microsoft Help Viewer 1.1 on a Mac

Microsoft Help Viewer 1.1 is a legacy Microsoft component from the Office 2011 era, so the current Microsoft 365 uninstall instructions don't specifically cover removing Help Viewer 1.1 on its own.

First, check whether it exists as a standalone application: Finder → Applications

If you see Microsoft Help Viewer there, quit it first, then move the application to the Trash. You may be asked for an administrator password.

If you don't see it in Applications, please don't start manually deleting files from /Library or ~/Library yet. Instead, in Finder press Command + Shift + G and check /Applications and /Applications/Microsoft Office 2011

If Help Viewer is associated with an old Office 2011 installation, it would be useful to know whether any Office 2011 applications are still installed. Removing individual support components from an old Office installation can leave other components in an inconsistent state.

Also, could you clarify where you're seeing “Microsoft Help Viewer 1.1” - Applications, Login Items, a compatibility/security report, or somewhere else? A screenshot of where it appears would help determine exactly what needs to be removed.

Don't use Microsoft's current “Uninstall Office for Mac” procedure just to remove this one old component, because that procedure is intended for supported/current Office applications and also removes associated Office container files.
