Using Microsoft Teams on macOS, including installation, features, and compatibility
Hi Tomas,
Based on what you've described, there is no built-in feature that automatically delivers all emails directly into your personal Teams chat inbox. However, a practical workaround is to forward emails to a dedicated Teams channel, allowing you to review important emails within Teams without needing to regularly open Outlook.
You can try the following steps:
1/ Create a dedicated Teams channel
For example, you can create a private channel named Email Inbox. Please keep in mind that any emails posted to the channel will be visible to all channel members.
In Teams:
- Open the channel.
- Select More options (...) next to the channel name.
- Select Get email address.
- Copy the generated channel email address.
2/ Create a forwarding rule for your personal mailbox
This method is typically easiest to configure in Outlook on the web and continues to work even when Outlook for Mac is not running.
- Open Outlook on the web.
- Go to Settings > Mail > Rules.
- Select Add new rule.
- Choose Apply to all messages, or leave the conditions blank if you want all incoming emails forwarded.
- Under Add an action, select Forward to.
- Enter the Teams channel email address copied earlier.
- Save the rule.
If you have additional Outlook rules, consider enabling Stop processing more rules only if you do not want subsequent rules to apply to the forwarded messages.
3/ Shared mailbox considerations
If some of the emails you care about are delivered to a shared mailbox, a separate forwarding rule may need to be configured for that mailbox as well. Rules created in your personal mailbox generally do not process messages that are delivered only to a shared mailbox.
Important notes:
- Emails forwarded to a Teams channel will appear as channel posts rather than personal chat messages.
- Replies made in the Teams channel stay within Teams and are not sent back to the original email sender.
- If automatic forwarding does not work, your organization may have mail flow or forwarding restrictions in place. In that case, your IT administrator may need to review the relevant Exchange Online or security policies.

I hope this helps you set up a workflow that keeps important emails visible within Teams. If you run into any issues while configuring the channel email address or the Outlook rule, please let me know and I'll be happy to assist further.
Kind regards.
