I updated Microsoft Word on a Mac and the colors of track changes reversed

I updated Word on my Mac this morning. I had being editing a document where my changes were blue and the other editor's were red. Now her changes are blue and mine are red. This is confusing. How can I switch it back?

Word lets you specify that track changes colors should be different for different editors, but you get no control over which specific color is used for a specific editor. This is by design.

But shouldn't colors remain consistent? If I start the document as blue, shouldn't I stay blue?

Unfortunately, no. There is no guarantee that a particular user will always be displayed with the same color. As I wrote, Word only guarantees that different users are represented by different colors. The particular collection of colors that you see in a tracked document may vary.

This also means that if you send your document to someone else, they are likely not seeing the same colors that you see.
