Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
“Outlook for Home” is not a separate Outlook app name shown in Windows. For Windows, the supported app names in the provided guidance are new Outlook for Windows and classic Outlook for Windows.
To check which one is installed now:
- If there is a Settings button in the top-right corner, that is new Outlook.
- If the Settings button is missing, that is classic Outlook.
If the goal is to use a different Outlook app than new Outlook:
- Check the Start menu and search for Outlook.
- There may be two entries:
- Outlook = new Outlook
- Outlook (classic) = classic Outlook
- If new Outlook is not available from the toggle or Start menu, it can be installed separately from the Microsoft Store on supported Windows versions.
For the Yahoo account issue where messages stay in Drafts before sending:
- First confirm whether the problem is only in the app by signing in to the mailbox in a browser.
- In new Outlook, go to View > View settings > Accounts > Your accounts.
- Under Email accounts, remove the affected Yahoo account.
- Close Outlook completely.
- Reopen Outlook and add the Yahoo account again:
- View > View settings > Accounts > Your accounts > Add Account
- Enter the Yahoo address and continue through the prompts.
- If prompted, complete any provider-specific Yahoo sign-in steps.
Important:
- Some non-Microsoft providers such as Yahoo may require settings changes on their own website before the account can be added successfully.
- If the issue continues in new Outlook, use Help > Support or Help > Feedback inside the app.
- What version of Outlook do I have?
