My Outlook.com mailbox cannot be opened on Outlook Web, macOS Mail, or iPhone Mail. Other accounts work normally. Outlook Web shows: HTTP 500, BootResult: fail, esrc: StartupData, et: ServerError. Please check the mailbox provisioning/backend status for my account. I can provide the UTC timestamp, Session ID, Client ID, and request ID.User's image

Error like this is always server side.

There's actually no ongoing outage right now, at least nothing is officially published. However, I do see this type of error from time to time and they are usually temporary and short-lived. You don't need to do anything on your side, as it won't fix it and changing settings or whatnot might only introduce new problems. Give it time and it usually recovers on its own. If it turns into any wide spread outage, I will update you here as soon as I learn about it.

It seems that the issue is specific to the account and server-related and not related to any issues with the app itself or the device. As the mailbox doesn’t work in the web-based version of Outlook and in macOS and iPhone’s Mail app, fixing it through reinstallation won’t help.

The failure pattern points to a mailbox-side Outlook.com issue, not a device-specific Mail app problem, because the same account fails in Outlook Web, macOS Mail, and iPhone Mail while other accounts work normally on the same devices.

    Supported actions:

    1. Check whether there is an active Outlook/Exchange Online service incident. Some accepted Microsoft Q&A resolutions for Outlook.com HTTP 500 errors state that users may be unable to access their mailbox by any connection method during a service issue.
    2. If Apple Mail or iPhone Mail was added as a basic-auth account, remove and add it back as Outlook.com. On iPhone:
      • Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts.
      • Tap the account and remove it.
      • Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account.
      • Choose Outlook.com.
    3. If re-adding on iPhone does not help:
      • Remove the account again.
      • Go to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.
      • Reboot the iPhone.
      • Add the account back and complete the Outlook.com sign-in flow.
    4. If the account also fails in Outlook Web with HTTP 500 / BootResult: fail / esrc: StartupData / et: ServerError, use Outlook.com support because the issue is not limited to a single client. The Outlook.com support page directs users who still cannot sign in to use the built-in help path or the Outlook.com support entry point.

The request to check mailbox provisioning or backend status cannot be completed here. The supported path is Outlook.com support. The diagnostic values such as UTC time, Session ID, Client ID, and request ID are relevant to provide when contacting support.
