If I run a model such as Claude Opus 5 when I send the request where is it processed?

Reviewing technical requirements and new to AI Foundry.

Lets say I send a request to a model such as Opus 5 where is it processed? Canada?

I stage a application in Canadian region and send requests to the model. Does all communications and data stay with Canada?

    Yes, but the key point is that deploying the application in a Canadian Azure region alone does not guarantee that all AI processing happens in Canada.

    For Microsoft Foundry, data residency depends on the model hosting option and deployment type:

    Claude hosted on Azure: Prompts and outputs are processed on Azure infrastructure. Data at rest is stored in the selected Azure geography, while processing depends on the deployment type.

    Regional/Standard deployment: Inference is processed in the region associated with the deployment, where that option is available.

    Global deployment: Requests may be processed in other Azure regions where the model is available, even if the Foundry resource/application is deployed in Canada.

    Claude hosted on Anthropic infrastructure: Processing may occur outside Azure and outside the selected Azure region.

    Therefore, if the requirement is "all customer data and AI inference must remain in Canada," we need to explicitly validate the model hosting option, deployment type, supported Canadian region, and any associated Agent/tool/logging data flows rather than relying only on the application region.
