I am trying to install Office Home on a Mac and have problems

I initially installed a new version of Office Home and it looked to have loaded successfully but I couldn't open word or publisher. I deleted the Office applications to start again. Now when I try to load again I am faced with the student copy and not the Office Home I have bought. Can you help?

Hi,

May I ask which versions of macOS and Microsoft Office you are currently using? If you are installing MS 365 or Office 2024, please make sure that your macOS is at its latest version.
Also, where did you purchase Microsoft Office? Was it purchased directly from the official Microsoft website or store, or from another digital or physical retailer?

Please also check whether you have any other versions of Microsoft Office installed on your Mac. If you find another version, please uninstall it too.

If you are on the latest version of macOS and trying to install MS 365 or Office 2024, please make sure to properly follow the steps in the article provided below.

Download and install Office 2024 on a Mac

This is a brand new Mac device which I have been using for a few months. The software was purchased from a High Street retailer. I've put the software back and again word isn't opening while I have no problems with Excel. So I am no further forward. Can you help please?? I have Tahoe 26.6.2 which is the latest version.

Please try uninstalling again using the link below, then click Open if you see a pop-up window that says, "This site is trying to open Get Help." Follow the prompts on the remaining screens, and when prompted, restart your computer.

Install Microsoft Office by following the article I provided in my previous response.

Make sure that you have no other version of Office installed on your device.

Hello, I am not getting anywhere with this fault. I cannot open WORD. I've made you aware of the error message and I tried to follow the instructions but it won't allow me to download the software again as it say's I have already downloaded the software. I prefer to have the software loaded onto my Mac as I open have to use it offline away from internet access.

PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME.

Note that Publisher is not available to run on a Mac (it will be retired from Windows as well in October). Office Home 2024 includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.

Are you saying that you see some other Microsoft Office product than Office Home 2024? In that case, it might be a licensing issue. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-activation-licensing/what-to-try-if-you-can-t-install-or-activate-office-for-mac .

In particular, you may want to try the license removal tool and then start fresh. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-activation-licensing/how-to-remove-office-license-files-on-a-mac .
