Ran a system update for Xactimate. The program is not starting up. Nothing happen at all. Running Windows 11. Received a windows notification, disappeared before I could capture all details. However, it appears to somehow relate to a permission error on a file extension XM8.APP.HELP.DLL. Please advise.

Was able to restore access to Xactimate by changing Windows11 setting for Windows Security>Apps & Browser Control>Smart Control > OFF.

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

This issue sounds like Windows Ransomware Protection (Controlled Folder Access) is blocking Xactimate from writing or registering files during an update.

Open "Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Protection history". Look specifically for an entry stating "Controlled folder access blocked". If you find anything, can you send a screenshot? Use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

Could you also share your Xactimate installation directory (e.g., C:\Program Files\...)?

If you have a third-party antivirus, can you tell me which one?

    Looking forward to your reply.
