My emails are not going through they just go straight to the draft box and sit there, and then when I go back to see if it is still sitting there in the draft folder. The mail finally goes through. Please tell why my email is being trapped. I tried doing quick fix and fix online what is going on

    Hi LORIA CORDER,

Since the messages are eventually being sent, this may indicate a temporary synchronization delay between New Outlook and your Yahoo account rather than a problem with the email itself. Based on the behavior you described, you can try the following quick checks:

1, Remove and re-add the Yahoo account in Outlook

    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Email accounts.
    • Remove the Yahoo account.
    • Add it again and complete the sign-in process.

2, Test sending from Outlook Web

    • Sign in to your Yahoo mailbox directly through a web browser.
    • Send a test email to verify whether the delay occurs only within Outlook.

3, Check for send delays caused by synchronization

    • After sending a message, select Sync or refresh the mailbox manually.
    • Observe whether messages leave Drafts immediately after synchronization.

    4, Temporarily disable any third-party Outlook add-ins

    • If additional add-ins are installed, disable them and test sending again.
    • Some add-ins can interfere with account synchronization and message submission.

If the issue continues after re-adding the account, it may help to test the same Yahoo account in another mail client or in Yahoo Webmail to determine whether the behavior is specific to Outlook or the account connection itself.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction. Let me know if you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answer" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thanks for your effort.

You tagged your Question as New Outlook for Windows Can you confirm that this is the Outlook client you are using?

Which Outlook Client do you have? If you use:

    • A web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, etc.) -> You have "Outlook Web"
    • A Mac -> You have "Outlook for Mac"
    • A phone or tablet -> You have either Outlook for Android or Outlook for iOS (iPhone, iPad)
    • A Windows PC and if you click "File" on the Outlook Main Menu:
      • You see an "About Outlook" choice -> You have "New Outlook for Windows"
      • You see an "Options" choice -> You have "Classic Outlook for Windows"

If you are using New Outlook for Windows, the first thing to try is to delete the Yahoo email account and add it back. Sometimes this will correct problems with the connection between Outlook and Yahoo.See this link for instructions:

If that doesn't help, please leave a comment below and we'll look for other causes.

This behavior usually points to Outlook being offline, a delayed send/sync issue, or a message getting stuck before it is actually sent. Since Quick Repair and Online Repair were already tried, focus on these checks:

    1. Check whether Outlook is offline.
      • In Outlook, go to Send/Receive.
      • Look at Work Offline.
      • If it is enabled or highlighted, select it to turn it off.
      • If Outlook is offline, messages can stay unsent until Outlook reconnects.
    2. Confirm the internet connection is stable.
      • Open a browser and try loading a site such as http://www.microsoft.com or http://www.bing.com.
      • If websites do not load, Outlook will not send mail until the connection is restored.
    3. Check whether the message is stuck in the Outbox rather than fully sent.
      • Select Send/Receive > Work Offline.
      • Open the Outbox.
      • If the message is there, either delete it or drag it to Drafts.
      • Open it again and remove any large attachment, because large attachments are a common reason messages get stuck.
      • After that, select Send/Receive > Work Offline again to go back online.
    4. If Outlook says it is trying to transmit the message, close Outlook completely.
      • If Outlook does not close, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, open Task Manager, find outlook.exe, and end it.
      • Start Outlook again and check the Outbox/Drafts behavior.
    5. Verify the Yahoo account settings and password.
      • If the Yahoo account password was changed with Yahoo, the password stored in Outlook must also be updated.
      • Password changes must be made first with the email provider, then updated in Outlook.
    6. If mail still sends only after a delay, compare the account settings with the POP/IMAP server settings for the Yahoo account.
      • Incorrect account settings can prevent Outlook from sending or receiving normally.

If the issue is specifically that mail appears in Drafts first and only sends later, the most likely causes supported here are:

    • Outlook is in Work Offline mode.
    • The internet connection is dropping.
    • A message is hanging because of a large attachment or send/sync delay.
    • The Yahoo account credentials or account settings in Outlook need updating.

If none of those steps resolves it, use the Outlook community support path for the remaining issue.
