I have a web client viewing a web page on a local web server in a local LAN network which is showing the site as Unsafe.

I have installed the certificate for teh device on my web client but the message still persists. How do I make my client PC accept the server as safe

Can you share a screenshot of the exact Edge warning, especially whether it says “Unsafe site,” “Your connection isn't private,” or gives an ERR_CERT code, so we can see if it is cert issue, or can be due to other issue and is blocked by Smartscreen.

Also, what about Chrome, does it give error in Chrome?

    Welcome Michael Buckley,

Thank you for the additional information.

To better understand why Edge still considers the site unsafe even after you installed the certificate, could you please confirm:

    • Is the website being accessed with a hostname or by IP address?
    • Does the certificate's “Subject” or “Subject Alternative Name (SAN)” match exactly what you type in the browser address bar?
    • Have you tested the same site in Chrome or another browser, and does the same warning appear there?

In the meantime, please check the following:

    • Open the site in Edge and click the padlock or certificate warning icon, then view the certificate details. Verify that the certificate shows as valid and has not expired.
    • Press “Windows + R”, type “certmgr.msc”, and confirm the certificate is installed under “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” (or the appropriate trusted store) for the current user.
    • Verify that the URL you use in Edge matches the certificate name exactly. A certificate name mismatch can cause security warnings even when the certificate is trusted.

    Looking for your update.
