Hi there,

After installing MS Office 2024 Home & Office on my Mac, PowerPoint and Excel aren't working, they wont launch/open without coming up with an error. The error says "There was a problem with Microsoft Excel and we apologize for the inconvenience. Microsoft Excel will attempt to recover your work". It just fails to ever open, as with PowerPoint.

I've tried following troubleshooting from other threads, including clearing library folders etc., removing all the programs and running a deinstall, and then reinstalling - have tried multiple times but the issue continues to happen.

I feel like it could be a problem with the installer/download I've been issued from Microsoft. Not sure how I could request to be reissues a new one?

Any help/advice would be incredible.

Thanks heaps!

    Hello,

    1. Quit all Office applications.
    2. Open Finder > Applications.
    3. Use Command button +click to select all of the Microsoft Office apps.
    4. Ctrl+click the application you selected and click Move to Trash.

Once done, in the Finder, click GO in the menu bar and go to folder - ~/Library/Containers/

    Delete the folders starting with,

    com.microsoft.Word

    com.microsoft.Excel

    com.microsoft.Powerpoint

    com.microsoft.Outlook

    com.microsoft.OneNote

Go back to the Library folder and open Group Containers. If present, move to Trash.

If you are still experiencing this issue,

    • Create a new user profile on your Mac.
    • Install the latest Office packages from your Microsoft account.

    Alternatively,

I suggest you verify the startup volume with Disk Utility.

If necessary, repair the startup volume using Disk Utility.

I just got on to live support.

I deleted all of the Applications from Finder - ran the Download the license removal tool - and reinstalled and all programs are now working 100%

Unbeknownst to me seemed to work this time!
