Need help deleting Excel from my tabletop computer. I was given the option
to choose from several office programs and chose Excel. All I get is a message
indicating the app is not working. Now I cannot delete the app as I found out
it is a paid app. I never signed up for a free time period or outright membership
with Excel. Can you help me in deleting this very unwanted app?

If you have an Office or Microsoft 365 suite, you cannot uninstall only one of the applications in the suite. You must uninstall the entire suite. You can find Microsoft's guidance here: https://support.microsoft.com/office/lifecycle/officeinstall/uninstall-microsoft-365-or-office-from-a-pc.
