Windows itself doesn't have the options to blur background, unless you have a Copilot+ PC, then you will have the Windows Studio Effects option to do so. If your computer supports it, you will find this icon on the lower right on taskbar to launch Windows Studio Effects.

Otherwise, you will need to rely on specific apps you are using for this feature. For example, Teams, Google meet and Zoom all provide in-app settings for this. You find it in the settings inside the app instead, not in Windows settings.

To blur the webcam background in Windows 11, use Camera settings if the device supports Windows Studio Effects:

    1. Open Settings.
    2. Go to Bluetooth & devices > Cameras.
    3. Under Connected cameras, select the camera being used.
    4. Look for Windows Studio Effects or Camera Effects under the camera preview.
    5. Turn on Background blur or Background effects.
      • If both blur types are supported, select Standard blur or Portrait blur.

If only Basic settings appear and there is no Windows Studio Effects section, background blur is not supported there on that device.

    Windows Studio Effects requires:

    • Windows 11, version 22H2 or newer
    • A supported device with a compatible NPU and the required driver support

    Also note:

    • Camera defaults are saved per camera and per user account.
    • An app can still change camera settings while it is using the camera.
