Unable to scroll on Bing search results page in the Edge browser.

As the title says, I find I am unable to scroll on the search results page for Bing using the Edge browser. This has been going on for over a week now, along with being signed out of my Gmail account [but only Gmail no other sites] every time the browser is closed and relaunched. I've run through all of the help page fixes to adjust settings, extensions, check for updates, repair Edge, etc. Clearing cache and cookies or resetting the browser to default settings works until I close the browser and relaunch - then back to the same issues. The issue does not seem to be present on the 'In Private' tab, in other browsers, or on Google search results pages [for the scrolling issue]. Years of using Edge and Bing and I've not encountered this at any point previously. Any recommendations for likely causes/solutions? ETA: There has also been an issue of 'screen jumping' when scrolling on Amazon - but again, only on that one site which further leads me to believe this is a browser issue rather than a site/page issue.

    Hi Tithra,

Based on the symptoms you described, the issue appears to be tied to the Edge browsing profile rather than Bing itself, since the problem only occurs in a regular browsing session and not in InPrivate mode.

One thing worth trying is creating a new Edge profile and testing Bing scrolling, Gmail sign-in persistence, and Amazon scrolling behavior there for a short period. If everything works normally in the new profile, it would help confirm that the original profile data is contributing to the issue.

    1. Open Edge and select your profile icon.
    2. Choose Add profile.
    3. Create a new profile and sign in.
    4. Test Bing search results scrolling and Gmail sign-in behavior before importing any settings.

If the new profile works correctly, you can gradually move your browsing data to it or continue using it as your primary profile.

The pattern points to something in the regular Edge profile rather than Bing itself, because the problem does not occur in InPrivate, does not occur in other browsers, and returns after cache clearing or reset until Edge is closed and reopened.

    A practical next path is:

    1. Confirm Edge is fully updated
Go to Settings and more > Settings > About Microsoft Edge and install any available update.
    2. Clear browsing data again, but test immediately after restart
Go to Settings and more > History > Open history page > Delete browsing data.
Select All time, then clear Browsing history and Cached images and files.
If needed, use Delete browsing data again and clear all boxes for All time.
Since the issue returns only after relaunch, this helps confirm the profile/session data is being reintroduced on startup.
    3. Disable extensions and retest
The context specifically calls out extensions as a common cause of Edge problems. Since InPrivate works, an extension is a likely cause. Disable all extensions, restart Edge, then test:
      • Bing search results scrolling
      • Whether Gmail stays signed in after closing and reopening Edge
If both issues stop, re-enable extensions one at a time until the problem returns.
    4. Repair Edge
This is safe; browser data and settings should not be affected.
Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
Select Microsoft Edge > Modify > Yes > Repair.
Make sure Edge is closed first, and that the device is connected to the internet.
    5. Test whether the issue is limited to the current profile
A Microsoft troubleshooting article lists a corrupted user profile as one common cause when Edge stops responding or behaves incorrectly. Because the issue is isolated to normal browsing and not InPrivate, profile corruption is a strong candidate.
    6. Check for security software interference
Verify any third-party security software is up to date. The support guidance specifically recommends this because security software can interfere with browser behavior.
    7. If the issue still persists, send feedback from Edge
Go to Settings and more > Help and feedback > Send feedback.

Most likely causes from the symptoms described:

    • An extension affecting the normal profile only
    • Corrupted Edge profile/session data
    • Third-party security software interfering with stored session or page behavior
