why cant open my axcel book

Try these steps in order:

1. Repair the workbook itself.
   • Open Excel.
   • Select File > Open.
   • Browse to the workbook.
   • Select the file.
   • Select the arrow next to Open.
   • Select Open and Repair.
   • First choose Repair.
   • If that does not work, choose Extract Data to recover values and formulas.
2. If the problem happens with many Excel files, repair Office.
   • On Windows, open Settings > Apps.
   • Find the Office app.
   • Select it, then choose Modify.
   • Run Online Repair.
3. If Excel opens but shows a blank screen instead of the file:
   • In Excel, go to View > Unhide.
   • Or minimize Excel and then maximize it again.
4. If double-clicking files opens Excel incorrectly, reset the file association.
   • Right-click the file.
   • Select Properties.
   • Next to Opens with, select Change.
   • Choose Excel and enable Always use this app.
5. If Excel shows a message that the file format or extension is not valid:
   • Make sure the file came from a trusted source.
   • If the file extension was renamed by mistake, open it and save it again with the correct Excel format.
   • If the workbook is corrupted, use Open and Repair.
6. If Excel hangs and asks to grant access to files, update Excel.
   • This issue was fixed in version 16.34 and later.

If the workbook became corrupted while editing and was not saved correctly, reopen the workbook from File > Open, double-click it, and choose Yes to revert to the last saved version.
