Issue with a crawled property in SharePoint Online.

They have created a two-option column and applied it across multiple site collections, populating it with data on each. Under normal circumstances, its expect this to be crawled within a reasonable timeframe, allowing us to map the managed property. However, it has now been well over a week, and the property still isn't appearing, something we haven't encountered with any other property.

We have similar issue since a couple of days. I created around 16 columns in a library (some are choice columns, some are text columns) and NONE of them appeared in Crawled Properties. Re-indexed the library. Columns are used and filled with values.
When we tried to search in Crawled Properties, we also got an error that the connection was closed to our Admin Center.

    Dear Bindu M S,

Under normal circumstances, once a site column contains values and the content has been indexed, the corresponding crawled property should appear in the search schema within a reasonable period of time. For more information, please follow this article: Manage the search schema in SharePoint

However, since you have been waiting for more than a week, I would suggest checking whether the column's internal name differs from its display name. If the column was renamed after it was created, the crawled property may still be generated using the original internal name, which can make it appear as though the property is missing when searching by the current column name. Moreover, make sure that the column is a Site Column rather than a list-only column. Crawled properties are generated from site columns and metadata that is extracted during indexing.

As a troubleshooting step, I recommend triggering a reindex on both the affected libraries and the site collections to ensure the metadata is queued for reprocessing by the SharePoint search service:

    • For each affected library: On the site, go to the list or library that you want to reindex > Select Settings, and then choose Library Settings or List Settings > Under General Settings > Advanced settings. If you don't see the Settings page, you may need to choose More library settings or More List settings > Scroll down to Reindex Document Library or Reindex List, and select the button.
    • For each affected site collection: On the site, select Settings, and then select Site settings. If you don't see Site settings, select Site information, and then select View all site settings > Under Search, select Search and offline availability > In the Reindex site section, select Reindex site.
    • For more information: Manually request crawling and reindexing of a site, a library or a list and Request re-indexing of a document library or list

After reindexing, allow some time for SharePoint Online to process the request and update the search index. Although crawled properties typically appear automatically once content has been indexed, reindexing can help when newly added columns are not being promoted as expected

If you have any questions or if I have misunderstood anything, please feel free to reach out. Looking forward to your update.
