I have a new Lenovo Idea Pad Slim3 with windows 11 in S mode. I need to turn off the S mode. I do not see the Get button. I click on the 'switch our of S mode' and it simply continues to scroll - saying this may take time, but never completes

    Try this in order:

    1. Open Settings > System > Activation.
    2. Under Switch to Windows 11 Pro, select Go to the Store.
    3. On the Microsoft Store page for Switch out of S mode, select Get.

    Important:

    • Do not select the link under Upgrade your edition of Windows. That is a different process and keeps the PC in S mode.
    • Switching out of S mode is permanent. It cannot be turned back on.
    • There is no charge to switch out of S mode.

If the Store page keeps loading and the Get button never appears, these steps from Microsoft Q&A are the relevant troubleshooting path:

    1. If a VPN or third-party antivirus is installed, temporarily remove it and try again.
    2. Reset the Microsoft Store cache:
      • Press Windows + R
      • Run: wsreset.exe -i
      • Wait about 10 seconds, then try the S mode page again.
    3. Re-register Microsoft Store:
      • Right-click Start and open Windows PowerShell (Admin)
      • Run:
             Get-AppXPackage WindowsStore -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

      • Restart the PC, then try switching out of S mode again.
    4. If the issue still continues, reset the Microsoft Store app from Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Store and try again.
    5. Also check Settings > Accounts > Your info. If the device is connected to a school or work account, that can block switching. If the device belongs to an organization, the administrator can require S mode.

If the device is organization-managed, switching out of S mode may be blocked by policy.

Hi, I'm Bernard. I'm happy to help!

Kindly check first if the device is already switched out of S mode by checking the Windows Version and edition:

Go to Settings > System > About

Under Windows specifications, please let me know the Windows version and edition you have.

If it's still in S mode, kindly follow the steps below:

Method 1. Change the region to the US or the UK

Go to Settings > Time & Language > Change the "Country or region" to US or UK, then go to the Microsoft Store and switch out of S mode.

Method 2. Create a new admin user account, then switch out of S mode using the new account:

Go to Settings > Accounts > Other users > Add account

Follow the prompts to create an account.

Then go to Settings > Accounts > Other users > Select the account you created > Click "Change account type" then select "Administrator"

Restart the PC and log in to the new account, then try to switch out of S mode.
