If you haven't tried it yet, first, open Word and go to "File" > "Account". Check which Microsoft account is signed in and whether it shows "Unlicensed Product" or another activation message.

Also sign in here with the same account and check whether your Microsoft 365 or Office license appears:

To help narrow down the issue:

1. What is the exact error message you see?
2. Do you have Microsoft 365, Office 2021/2024, or another Office version?
3. Was the license purchased directly from Microsoft, from another retailer, or provided by work/school?

That message usually means Office cannot find a valid license associated with the account currently signed in, but we need a little more information to identify the cause.

Please check the following first:

1. Open Word or Excel and go to:

File → Account

Check which Microsoft account is currently signed in.

Sign in to your Microsoft account and open Services & subscriptions.

Verify that your Microsoft 365 subscription or Office license is listed there and is still active.

Microsoft specifically notes that if Office is signed in with the wrong account, you may receive a message such as:

“We couldn't find any Office products.”

Check whether more than one version of Office is installed on the computer. Multiple Office installations can sometimes cause activation conflicts.

Please also let us know:

The exact error message

Which application shows the error (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Whether you are using Microsoft 365 or a one-time purchase such as Office 2024

Whether this is a personal, work, or school account

Windows or macOS

A screenshot of the error would also help, but please remove any email address, product key, or other personal information first.
