Can't add a new list in To Do

I am new to Microsoft To Do. I have previously added a few tasks from Outlook and completed them without any issues. However, I accessed the To Do page/app for the first time yesterday after learning that I can share tasks with other people. I watched several instructional videos to learn how to get started, but I am having difficulty creating and organizing lists. When I click the “New List” button (the plus sign), nothing happens. The “Create Group” option to the right of it works correctly, and I am able to create a group. However, I cannot create a new list, nor can I move a task I have already created into a group. At this point, I am unable to set up my tasks in the way I intended. I would appreciate any guidance on how to resolve this issue or determine why the “New List” option is not working.

    Hi WK,

Thank you for reaching out. Based on your description, Microsoft To Do is loading correctly and you are able to create groups and view existing tasks, but the New List button does not respond when selected.

To help identify whether this is a client-side issue or an account-related issue, please try the following:

    1. Open Microsoft To Do in an InPrivate/Incognito browser window.
    2. Test with a different browser.
    3. If available, try creating a new list using the Microsoft To Do desktop app or mobile app.
    4. Clear the browser cache and cookies, then sign back in and test again.

If the issue only occurs in one browser, it may be related to cached data or a browser extension. If the behavior occurs across all clients, the issue could be related to the account's task data synchronization.

It is also possible that this is a temporary service-side issue. If the problem started recently and no troubleshooting steps resolve it, please wait 24 to 48 hours and try again to see whether the functionality is restored.

Please also let us know whether you are using a personal Microsoft account, or a work/school Microsoft 365 account, and whether the issue occurs in both the web and desktop/mobile versions of Microsoft To Do.
