Hi!

I cannot reinstall office, most files seem to be gone but a couple like "Microsoft OneNote - en-gb" are still present, and when I try to remove them one by one, I receive error 30198-25. I tried to run the online repair tool, it gives and error 30053-44. Could you please help me?

Best regards,

Nataliia

    Hi Nataliia,

Based on the symptoms you described, it appears that the Office installation is partially removed and some components, such as"Microsoft OneNote - en-gb", remain on the system. This may explain why you are receiving error 30198-25 when attempting to uninstall the remaining components and error 30053-44 when running Online Repair.

To ensure all remaining Office components are removed properly, please follow the steps below:

    1. Restart your computer and sign in using an administrator account.
    2. Instead of removing"Microsoft OneNote - en-gb" individually, please use Microsoft's Office uninstall troubleshooter:
      • Open Microsoft's official Uninstall Microsoft 365 or Office page
      • Under "Uninstall Microsoft 365 or Office with the uninstall troubleshooter", select Uninstall.
      • Allow the browser to open the Get Help application.
      • Select the affected Office installation and let the troubleshooter remove all Office components.
      • Restart the computer when prompted.
    3. After the restart, check Settings > Apps > Installed Apps and verify whether any Microsoft 365 / Office entries are still listed.
    4. If Office components remain and cannot be removed, follow Microsoft's official manual removal instructions: Manually uninstall Office | Microsoft Support
      • Please ensure you carefully follow the steps that match your Office installation type (Click-to-Run, MSI, or Microsoft Store).
    5. Restart the computer again after the remaining components have been removed.
    6. Sign in using the work or school account associated with your Microsoft 365 license, select Install apps, and reinstall Microsoft 365: Download, install, or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 on a PC or Mac | Microsoft Support
    7. If the regular installation still fails, try the Office offline installer, which Microsoft lists as an alternative for Office installation problems: Solutions for issues while installing Office

Note: Uninstalling Microsoft 365 removes the Office applications, but it does not delete documents, spreadsheets, or other files you created. If by “files are gone” you mean your Word, Excel, or OneNote content rather than the application files, please check OneDrive and the Recycle Bin before deleting anything manually.

Since this is a business subscription, if the uninstall troubleshooter and manual removal do not resolve the problem, please contact your organization’s IT administrator. They can verify that your Microsoft 365 license is assigned correctly and, if necessary, open a support request with Microsoft to investigate the installation logs.

    Best regards.
