    Just to follow up -

    Microsoft has released a corrective update.

    For Excel 2016 ONLY, KB5002665, released September 16, 2026, specifically fixes the known KB5002914 issue that caused certain paste operations to fail silently.

    One caveat: Microsoft says paste operations may still fail in workbooks containing conditional formatting. So this is a confirmed fix for the original issue, but not yet a complete resolution of every paste failure scenario.

    They have not announced any update for this bug yet, did you report this on the feedback panel in Excel.

    If that did not resolve the problem, then you will need to wait for Microsoft to release a patched update to fix the Paste bug in Excel, the best option is to open Excel, go to Help - Feedback - Report a concern and report this to their Office developers there.
