My Microsoft 365 Business Basic (Month to Month) subscription suddenly shows as disabled today.

When I click “Reactivate subscription,” I receive the following error message:

“There was a problem submitting your request. Please try again, or contact support for help.”

    Dear @ANAN,

    I hope you’re having a good day.

Since the Reactivate subscription action itself is failing and returning: "There was a problem submitting your request. Please try again, or contact support for help." this is most likely a subscription or billing-side issue that requires access to Microsoft's subscription management systems.

Depending on your situation, I recommend the following:

    • If you can still access the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, open a support request from Admin Center > Help & Support. Microsoft Support can review the subscription status and investigate why the reactivation request is failing. User's image
    • If the subscription was purchased through a reseller, partner, or CSP provider, contact them directly first, as they may manage the subscription and may need to reactivate it on your behalf.
    • If you cannot access the Admin Center, contact Microsoft Support by phone and explain that the subscription is disabled and the reactivation request fails with an error. Subscription and billing teams have access to information that is not available through the community forum and can verify the subscription's current state and available recovery options.

Unfortunately, subscription status, billing information, payment issues, and backend reactivation requests can only be reviewed by the subscription provider or Microsoft Support and cannot be investigated from the community forum.

I hope this information helps point you in the right direction.

    Warm regards,

For a disabled Microsoft 365 for business subscription, global or billing admins can reactivate it in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Since Reactivate subscription is failing with “There was a problem submitting your request”, use this path:

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
    2. Go to Billing:
      • Simplified view: select Billing.
      • Dashboard view: go to Billing > Your products.
    3. Select the affected subscription.
    4. Try Reactivate again:
      • For MCA billing accounts: in Billing settings under Subscription status, select Reactivate, then select Reactivate again.
      • For MOSA billing accounts: in Subscription and payment settings under Subscription status, select Reactivate subscription, choose or add a payment method, then select Reactivate.

Before retrying, confirm the account has the required role:

    • MCA: Billing account owner/contributor, or Billing profile owner/contributor.
    • MOSA: at least Billing Administrator.

If the subscription is in Disabled status, it can still be reactivated in the admin center. If the reactivation request continues to fail, contact Microsoft support from the admin center:

    1. In the admin center, open Support > Help & Support.
    2. Enter a description of the issue.
    3. If the suggested results do not help, select Contact Support and submit the case.

If access to Office apps is needed immediately while the renewal/reactivation issue is being resolved, use the web apps at microsoft365.com.
