Speakers and microphone work perfectly-- but no audio on teams (personal)

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Teams. I have a perfectly working speaker and microphone and used them all weekend on ZOOM.

I can see the bar moving that it's accepting my audio when I test the mic, but I can get no sound when I try to listen.

I have TWO Teams showing up on my sound settings screen. But I only have one installed. Please help.

Since the speaker and microphone work outside Teams, focus on Teams audio device selection and Windows sound routing.

    1. In Teams, open Settings and more > Settings > Devices. Under Audio settings, make sure the correct device is selected in the Speaker dropdown.
    2. In Teams, run Make a test call. This confirms whether Teams can play audio through the selected speaker. The test call records and plays back a short message.
    3. During a call or meeting, select the dropdown arrow next to Mic > More actions > Audio settings. Under Speaker, verify the intended output device is selected and not muted.
    4. In Windows, go to Start > Settings > System > Sound. Under Choose where to play sound, select the correct speaker and make sure Volume is not muted.
    5. If the speaker does not appear correctly in Teams, disconnect and reconnect it.
      • For wired devices, unplug and plug them back in.
      • For Bluetooth devices, make sure they are charged and not connected to another device, then reconnect them.
    6. If Teams still has no playback audio, re-enable the speaker in Windows: Go to Advanced > More sound settings. Then enable the speaker device there if it is disabled.
    7. Make sure Teams and Windows are fully updated, since current versions are recommended for audio issues.

About seeing two Teams entries in Windows sound settings: the provided guidance does not document why duplicate Teams entries appear. The supported fix path is to verify the active Speaker device inside Teams and in Windows, then test audio from Teams directly.

    Hi, let me help you.
Could you check whether you're currently signed in to Microsoft Teams on Edge or Google Chrome? If you find that you are logged in on either browser, please sign out of Teams completely there.

Next, open Teams desktop, go to Settings, then Devices, and see if both of those duplicate "Teams" entries show up there too as separate speaker options — if so, try manually selecting each one during a test call to see if one of them actually produces sound. Third, since you already reinstalled the app itself, it's worth also clearing the Teams cache folder (not just uninstalling the app), since a reinstall often leaves the old cached device list behind, which would explain the phantom duplicate.
