    Hi Phil Batchelor,

You can add the Claranet account through File > Add Account > Advanced options > Let me set up my account manually > POP.

When entering the details supplied by Claranet, make sure the incoming POP server, outgoing SMTP server, port numbers, encryption type, and username are entered exactly as provided. Under the outgoing server settings, also confirm whether SMTP authentication is required.

At this point, I recommend that you review and try the steps provided in the AI generated answer on your thread. That reply typically include the most relevant checks for this scenario.

If Outlook still cannot connect, could you share the exact error message and confirm whether the failure occurs while receiving or sending email? Please do not post your password or other sensitive account information. Thank you so much for your understanding.

To add a Claranet email account to Classic Outlook with POP details, use manual setup:

    1. Open Classic Outlook and select File > Add Account.
    2. Enter the Claranet email address.
    3. Select Advanced options.
    4. Check Let me set up my account manually and select Connect.
    5. Select POP.
    6. Enter the incoming and outgoing server settings, port numbers, and SSL settings supplied by Claranet.
    7. Enter the account password and select Connect.
    8. If setup fails, select Change Account Settings and correct the values using the POP/SMTP details from Claranet, then select Connect.
    9. Select Done.

If Outlook starts with automatic setup and there is a need to control POP delivery behavior before the first download, create the account through Control Panel > Mail (Microsoft Outlook) instead:

    1. Close Outlook.
    2. Open Control Panel > Mail (Microsoft Outlook).
    3. Select Show Profiles.
    4. Select Add to create a new profile, or use the existing profile.
    5. Select Email Accounts > New.
    6. Select Manual setup or additional server types.
    7. Select POP or IMAP.
    8. Enter the account details from Claranet.
    9. Before finishing, select More Settings > Advanced.
    10. Under Delivery, enable Leave a copy of messages on the server if mail should remain on the server.
    11. Clear Remove from server after 14 days if that behavior is not wanted.
    12. Select OK and finish setup.

    Notes:

    • Manual setup in Classic Outlook is supported for third-party email accounts using POP or IMAP.
    • If specific POP and SMTP values are required, those must come from Claranet.
    • Most of the time, Outlook will prepopulate some settings, but they can be edited during advanced setup.
