Generally, when using right-click editing options, a letter is underlined to be able to click on that one letter to perform that item, but lately in Word, when right-clicking and selecting 'c' there are two options instead of just one, which was 'Copy' but now it also brings up 'Copy link to location...'. You defeat the purpose of the single letter shortcuts when you add more than one shortcut to the same letter as typing the one letter requires you to look to see which item is highlighted and then you must either chose it by hitting 'enter' or you must tab to the other choice and then hit 'enter'. I would like to know if there is a way to fix this for my own use or if the programmers have to do it for everyone because it has been the other way for a very long time and I am so used to it that I keep just pasting whatever the last think I copied into the place instead of what I actually wanted pasted there.

Yes, you can do it that way, but why should we have to when they could have just selected a different letter other than 'c' and then it would only take one keystroke instead of three.
Choosing unique letters can be difficult because commands may appear in multiple menus, and each command should use the same letter wherever it appears.

Since you initiated this process by right-clicking with your mouse. just continue wit the mouse process and choose the final command by clicking on it with the mouse.
My other suggestion was to create custom keyboard shorts rather than using the temporarily duplicated command.
To notify Microsoft about a bug, please choose Help>Feedback>Report a problem. Submitting sends your report to the Word programming team. They are unlikely to reply, but they do fix problems when there are enough reports.
I only see this issue when the text being right-clicked is a hyperlink. Since your mouse is already active to right-click on an item, just continue using the mouse to select the appropriate command.
You can also use File>Options>Customize Ribbon. Beside the Keyboard shortcuts heading, click on Customize to create your preferred keyboard shortcut for a command you use frequently.
