A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
If Excel disappeared from the PC, the supported fixes are to reinstall Office and check whether the Office product is still available on the Microsoft account.
- Check Windows Update first:
- Select Start.
- Type Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- If updates are available, select Install.
- Reinstall Office from the Microsoft account:
- Close all Office apps.
- Go to Services & subscriptions.
- Find the Office product.
- Select Install.
- Choose the install options and complete the installation.
- If Office is installed but Excel is missing, update Office:
- Open another Office app such as Word.
- Select File > Account.
- Under Product Information, select Update Options > Update Now.
- When the update finishes, check the Start menu again for Excel or Access.
- If reinstall does not work, uninstall and reinstall Office:
- Use the Microsoft uninstall troubleshooter.
- Run it on the same Windows PC that has the Microsoft 365 or Office product.
- Restart the PC when prompted.
- Then reinstall Office.
- If this happened after a Windows Recovery reset, reinstall Office by following the ReadMe file placed on the desktop after recovery.
A Windows update should not remove Office from the PC. If the Office license is still listed in the Microsoft account, reinstalling from Services & subscriptions is the documented path.
