How to sync planner calendar and channel calendar on teams.

2026-09-14T10:46:39.4933333+00:00

I am trying to sync our team channel calendar and our team planner, in either direction, so as to have only one calendar needed.

In the community Q&A, there is a 2023 thread which references a gear for settings in the channel calendar which does not appear in the desktop or web apps. These settings apparently allowed syncing planner tasks, although from the replies at the time it did not appear the settings gear was available for people then either.

Can you provide another way I can sync these? Thanks.

Hi @Elise Miller (NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde),

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on the current Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Planner functionality, there is no built-in two-way synchronization between a Teams Channel Calendar and a Planner plan. The settings gear referenced in the older 2023 thread may have related to Planner calendar-sharing or notification settings rather than an option to synchronize Planner directly with a Channel Calendar.

A Teams Channel Calendar is a filtered view of the Microsoft 365 group calendar associated with the team, while Planner tasks are managed separately. Therefore, creating or updating an item in one does not automatically create or update the corresponding item in the other.

If your goal is to maintain a single calendar view, you could consider the following alternatives:

    1. Use Planner’s Schedule view Open the Planner plan and select Schedule to display tasks with start dates or due dates in a calendar layout.
    2. Add Planner as a tab in the Teams channel In the channel, select Add a tab > Apps > Planner, and then add the existing plan. This does not merge the calendars, but it allows team members to access the Planner schedule and Channel Calendar from the same channel.

Changes to Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Planner functionality, including the availability of synchronization options between a Teams Channel Calendar and a Planner plan, are controlled by the Microsoft product team.

I also agree that having native synchronization between the Channel Calendar and Planner would be extremely valuable, especially for teams that want to manage meetings, events, task start dates, and task due dates through a single calendar. Maintaining separate calendar views can create additional administrative work and make it more difficult for team members to see all scheduled activities in one place.

The best way to provide feedback about this limitation is to submit feedback directly to Microsoft so the product team can review and evaluate the request. This is the most effective path forward, as Microsoft product teams review customer feedback when considering future improvements.

    You can submit feedback here:

Visit: Microsoft Teams Community Feedback Portal

When submitting feedback, you may wish to clearly describe your request, for example:

"Please add native two-way synchronization between Microsoft Planner tasks and the Microsoft Teams Channel Calendar, so that teams can manage tasks, due dates, meetings, and channel events through a single calendar without requiring custom Power Automate flows."

If you submit the feedback, feel free to share the link here. Other community members with the same requirement may be able to review and support the request as well.

As a user, I do not have the ability to modify Microsoft Teams or Planner functionality, add synchronization features, or influence the product roadmap directly. However, I am happy to clarify the current behavior and discuss the available workarounds.

Thank you again for your time and understanding. I really appreciate your patience, and I’m here to help. Looking forward to your response.
