Supported facts for this case:

- The last build that supports Office 2019 license types is 16.78.
- Office 2019 for Mac cannot be updated to the required version, so this issue cannot be fixed by updating or reinstalling Office 2019 for Mac.

Available options:

- Upgrade to a supported version:
- Microsoft 365
- Office 2024 for Mac
- If replacing an older Office 2019 for Mac license with a new supported purchase, remove the old Office 2019 license with the License Removal Tool, then open an Office app, sign in with the account for the new purchase, and select Help > Check for Updates.
If the installed apps are still Office 2019 for Mac, continuing to use that license on the new MacBook will not restore editing capability.
